David J. McNamara, CFP® David is the President of The Planners Professional Services, Inc. David began his career in the financial services industry in 1974 when he established a tax practice which specialized in personal income tax planning and preparation. After completing his Certified Financial Planner designation exams, David was awarded the CFP® designation in 1986. In 1989 the investment advisory business was incorporated as the The Planner Professional Services and the tax and accounting business was incorporated as the Planners Tax and Accounting. In 1990, Mr. McNamara sold all of his interest in the tax and accounting business, but this business remains co-located in the same building as the investment advisory practice, as many of his clients continues to use the tax expertise of this business. David is a 1974 BGS graduate of the University of Iowa, and has been a member of the Financial Planning Association of American since 1984. He also is listed in Who’s Who in Finance. David is married with three children and is an active member of his church and has served in a number of community based charities since 1974.
Dean M. Nihart, ChFC®
Co-Owner & Vice-President
Dean began his career in the investment advisory business in 1982 in Des Moines, Iowa. After building a successful financial practice in the early mid-eighties, he became Co-Owner and Vice-President of The Planners Professional Services, Inc. in 1988 and is also the firm’s Vice President.
In addition, Dean is an honors graduate from Winona State University in the areas of business administration and economics. He also obtained the designation of Chartered Financial Consultant from the American College of Bryn Mawr, PA in August of 1992.
Dean is a member of the Financial Planning Association of America, the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors and is very active in his church. Dean, his wife, and their daughter reside in Johnston, Iowa.
Investment Advisor Representative
Graham Jepsen is an Investment Advisor Representative for Summit Brokerage Services Inc. Graham graduated from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa in 1997 with a B.A. in Biology, after which he joined AT&T and Qwest Communications in Denver Colorado as a Cisco-certified Network Engineer. In 2002, Mr.Jepsen joined Security National Servicing Corporation (SNSC) as a buyer of bank owned debt and mortgage backed securities. This experience led to the creation of Steel Mountain Capital, a mortgage purchasing arm of a $6-billion hedge fund, by Mr. Jepsen and five other SNSC employees. In 2007, Graham returned to his home state of Iowa, joining Principal Financial Group as an internal investment consultant to 401K participants. In 2010 Graham joined Voya (formally ING} and eventually established his own practice. Starting in 2018 Graham has joined Planners Professional Services and will work alongside David McNamara and his staff. Graham is a member of Lutheran Church of Hope and enjoys outdoor activities with his wife Amy, and their four children.
Martha has worked with The Planners for 22 years as an Executive Assistant to David McNamara. She has a background in banking, insurance and executive administrative support.
Martha mainly works preparing client appointments, quarterly mailings to clients, day-to-day operations of the business, and extensive customer service for our clients.
Martha currently lives in Urbandale, Iowa. She spends most of her free time with her family, which includes two wonderful granddaughters!
Terri L. Kocurek
Terri joined our team in the October of 2015 as an Administrative Assistant, providing support for both David McNamara and Martha Clock. She has an extensive background in accounting and executive administrative support, bringing over 20 years of various industry experience to our team.
Terri assists Dave in the retirement planning processes, asset allocation and creating customized financial plans for our clients. She serves a broad range of support for our clients and office operations.
Terri currently lives in Des Moines, Iowa. She spends most of her free time with her family, riding their motorcycle, boating and enjoying various activities throughout each season Iowa has to offer!
Stephanie A. Dagenais
Administrative Support Assistant
Stephanie joined our team in November of 2014 as an Administrative Support Assistant. She had previously worked in the financial and insurance industry for 10 plus years.
Her main duties include billing, preparing portfolio summaries, data entry projects and overall client support. She brings excellent energy and insight to our group and is great interacting with clients.
Stephanie resides in Cumming, Iowa. She loves spending her free time with her husband, 3 year old daughter and 2 dogs.
Rebecca Ann Lasnek
Registered Sales Assistant
Becky has been in the Financial Services industry for 30+ years, the last 20 in Sales and Marketing for both life and disability income products. She also has an extensive annuity background.
She joined The Planners Group in October of 2015. as a Registered Sales Assistant. Her responsibilities with The Planners include the processing of the day- to -day financial transactions for our clients, fielding calls and providing follow-up.
She earned her CLU designation in 2000 followed by her ChFC designation in 2001; both from the American College for Financial Planning. She is life and health licensed and also holds the FINRA Series 6 and 63 licenses.
In her spare time, Becky enjoys her dogs, her family, live music, singing and acrylic painting.
